Eric Ashman faculty

Eric Ashman has been an instructor with Penn Foster for over 13 years. Prior to joining Penn Foster faculty, he taught secondary math in Pennsylvania public schools. Aside from his time as an educator, Mr. Ashman worked in the field as a tax preparation specialist for seven years and eventually began his own tax preparation business. His extensive experiences in the field provided him with an invaluable amount of education that he imparts on Penn Foster students each day.

What is your proudest moment?
I have met or talked to former students from Penn Foster or my public school experience a few times, who’ve told me I was one of the best math teachers they have ever had. It makes me feel good that I have made a difference in a person’s life.

What are some of your interests/passions?
I love sports, particularly bowling, basketball, volleyball, golf, cycling, and running. I enjoy spending time outdoors and like to hike when I have the chance. I shoot darts in a local league. Lastly, I love music and actually DJ events on occasion.

What types of volunteer experiences have you had?
I am on our United Way committee, I volunteer for their “Day of Caring”, and I also work at my church's community kitchen.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve traveled?
I have travelled quite a bit; the most interesting places I’ve been are Switzerland and France. I was lucky enough to visit Paris and go to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe.

What kinds of pets do you have?
I have a cat named “Jeepers Creepers,” and let me tell you, he lives up to his name! He loves to shred paper and make a mess of everything he can get his paws on – he is quite a handful!
